Industry-regulator dialogue on energy efficiency/demand side management
IndEco's report on the dialogue outlines key lessons learned on three issues: the appropriate regulatory model for energy efficiency/demand side management (EE/DSM), measuring EE/DSM success, and the role of rate design in EE/DSM. Key topics for future discussions on EE/DSM are also presented.

IndEco secures MW savings for ERIP 2007 that are double the target for the province.
In Fall 2007, IndEco delivered the Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP) on behalf of 14 electric utilities in Southern and Western Ontario. The savings IndEco is responsible for achieving are greater than the target savings for the entire province.

Declining average customer use of natural gas: Issues and options
The Canadian Gas Association retained IndEco Strategic Consulting Inc. in June 2006 to explore at a high level the nature and extent of the decline in gas usage across Canadian natural gas utilities, to identify implications of this decline and to assess options for managing its negative consequences on the gas utilities. This paper documents the research and findings of this work.

What is the energy drill?
IndEco has been working with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the Halton Public School Board, the Halton Catholic District School Board, Milton Hydro, Toronto Hydro, and a team of dedicated principals, teachers, caretakers and young men and women on a program to reduce electricity demand in schools based on triggers for temperature, air quality, market price of electricity, and public appeals to conserve. One component of the project was the creation of the www.whatistheenergydrill.ca website.

IndEco begins the development of the City of Toronto's Energy Plan.
IndEco was retained to begin work on the development of the Energy Plan for Toronto by the City of Toronto. The work on the Energy Plan that has been completed to date and the results of this work is outlined by IndEco in a report titled, "Report on the Development of the Energy Plan for Toronto."

What is the appropriate role for electricity distributors in conservation?
IndEco developed recommendations for the future role of local electricity distribution companies in energy efficiency programs. The Options Paper addresses the level of funding for conservation, the appropriate role of distributors in conservation and the source of funding for their conservation initiatives.

Ontario Bill 21- The Energy Conservation Responsibility Act, 2005 stipulates that all public agencies in Ontario, such as municipalities may be required, by regulation, to prepare annual energy conservation plans. This article gives a brief overview of the requirements for these plans.

Brant County Power conservation and demand management program a great success
Brant County Power’s Conservation County program ended on a high note with the residential winner of the competition achieving a 30.8% reduction in electricity use and the commercial winner achieving a reduction of 11.4%. Nearly 120 households and commercial businesses and more than 80 children entered the Conservation County contests.

OPA 'Certificate of Recognition' awarded to Milton Hydro Energy Drill Program
Milton Hydro has received a certificate of recognition, from the Ontario Power Authority, for its innovative Energy Drill Program, which is being piloted with IndEco's assistance. This is the first certificate awarded by the OPA under its new Electricity Conservation Challenge.

Conservation and demand management by Ontario electric utilities in 2006 and beyond
IndEco has been assisting the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance in arguing for how conservation and demand management programs ought to be integrated into the framework the Ontario Energy Board is establishing for electric local distribution companies to set their rates for 2006. The Alliance's recommendations include: allowing the LDCs to set a budget based on their gross revenues, providing a lost revenue adjustment mechanism, and an incentive for realizing effective programs
