IndEco staff presenting at international energy conference

In January 2009, IndEco staff are presenting at the Association of Energy Service Professional's (AESP) 19th National Energy Services Conference & Expo in San Diego, California.

Judy Simon, Vice President of IndEco, is presenting with Mike Brophy of Enbridge Gas Distribution, the results of a 2008 study for the Canadian Gas Association on the best practices in monitoring and evaluation of energy demand side management (DSM) programs by Canadian gas utilities. During their presentation they will describe each of the thirteen best practices in DSM monitoring and evaluation identified through the study and discuss their applicability to other jurisdictions. The presentation will provide an informal way for utilities to benchmark their DSM and to learn from other utilities in similar situations.

Shona Adamson, a Senior Consultant at IndEco, is presenting the results of the behavioural components of a comprehensive energy management and awareness program being implemented by IndEco and our sub-consultants, Finn Projects and University of Toronto Sustainability Office, at the three University Health Network Hospitals in downtown Toronto. Her presentation will provide an overview of the concepts of social marketing and employee engagement and will highlight the specific types of materials and tools used in both the social marketing and employee engagement campaigns to achieve considerable electricity and gas savings. Lessons learned from implementing the program and things to consider when developing successful social marketing and employee engagement campaigns for healthcare and other institutional facilities will also be presented. To date implementation of these behavioural components has resulted in a 4.6% reduction in electricity consumption, a 4.4% reduction in natural gas consumption and a 5,642.5 t reduction in CO2 equivalents.
